What is the function of a hydraulic transition fitting?
Apr 14,2026
In hydraulic fittings, a hose fitting is a connector that clamps onto both ends of a hydraulic hose. The connection between the hose fitting and the component port typically requires a transition fitting, which serves to bridge the gap between the rigid fitting and the port assembly, or may function directly as part of the rigid pipe fitting. What is the role of a hydraulic transition fitting?
Because the contact interface between two dissimilar metals is highly susceptible to oxidation, when the two metals are joined, the interface quickly oxidizes, increasing the contact resistance. This triggers a vicious cycle: as resistance rises, heat generation increases, further exacerbating the problem and potentially leading to equipment failure or even combustion. The use of hydraulic transition fittings can effectively prevent this phenomenon.

(2) The addition of sealants or other filling materials is prohibited. To achieve better sealing, sealant was applied to the ferrule; as a result, sealant from the American-style threaded transition fitting was flushed into the hydraulic system, leading to blockage of hydraulic components.
(3) When connecting pipelines, sufficient deformation allowance shall be provided to prevent tensile forces in the pipeline.
(4) When connecting pipelines, lateral forces should be avoided; excessive transverse forces can compromise the seal.
(5) When connecting pipelines, perform the connection in a single operation to avoid repeated disassembly, as this can degrade sealing performance.
